The Great Kiwi Conundrum

What a great start today in our performance. Everything went smoothly and the children were very good at staying quiet and coming in on time. I know you will enjoy the show when you attend.

Visiting Parakeet

Mr Anderson brought one of his parakeets to school to show the class. The children really enjoyed learning about him. They have worked diligently on their bird feeders, stories and art work as part of the technology unit.

Bird Feeders

The children began to make the next bird feeder last Thursday. They have learnt about Tui's and planned what their feeder will look like. Mrs Clementson has done a great job on this technology unit.

Cross country

What a lovely afternoon last Friday for the cross country. We had great support from our school community and the Year 8 students. The children have been practising with varying degrees of intensity but all completed the run.

Bees

Gary Jeffries and his son Paul brought a hive to school to talk to Rooms 10and 11 about his bees. Mrs Cumming organised the visit because Sir Edmund Hilary was a beekeeper as well as a mountaineer. I learnt lots of interesting things that I didn't know. The children were very good about standing quietly and not panicking even when a bee landed on them. We got to see a baby bee and the honey cells in the frames. We also got to have a honey sandwich for morning tea.

Activity Day

We have had a very busy day today completing a number of activities. Tracey Muir was a great help completing bird feeders with individual children. Thank you Tracey for your efforts. we have also completed our body movement pictures to go with our cross country stories. Earlier in the week we learnt lots about bees when Gary Jeffries brought a hive to school. The children are writing about this and completed a bee picture to go with their writing.
