Building Dams

At the beach, we stacked rocks to stop the water.
Seth

On camp we built a big dam at Tauranga Bay. It was hard work because the stones and logs were heavy.
Tom

At Tauranga Bay we played in the sand. We built rock dams to make a hole for the fish to swim in.
Kaleb

At Tauranga Bay we built a dam up but before that we went on a walk. We saw a baby rabbit.
Zak

We built a dam. It was cool. We saw a little black fish.
Ollie

On camp everyone built a dam of rocks, sticks and seaweed.
Darius

The Baby Rabbit

The baby rabbit was beside the track. We all had a look and kept on walking. When we stopped, the walk was over. We had some lunch.
Charlie

On the walkway I saw a rabbit. It was cute. I wanted to take it home.
Torie

When the class was on the walk we saw a baby bunny. The baby bunny was tiny and brown. It was really hard to see it because it was camouflaged.
Jessica

On the walk, as we followed the path, we stopped, we looked. "A rabbit!" They yelled.
I saw it! A little, brown rabbit camouflaged as it stayed still while we moved on.

A Monster in my Toilet

Room 11 showed their monster pictures in assembly and said the monster poem that inspired them. Here it is.
There's a monster in my toilet,
All yellow fangs and claws.
It bangs against the lid,
And when you flush it roars.

I saw it only last night,
It was swimming like a shark.
during daytime it is sleeping,
But it comes out when it is dark.

My dad says I am joking,
My mum thinks it's a prank.
But it goes splashing in the bowl,
And hides in the water tank.

Once I tried to catch it,
I used a piece of cheese.
I thought it would be simple,
But it escaped with graceful ease.

I think I'll leave it in there,
Yes I think I'll let it be.
But in future I'll be careful,
Especially when I wee!

Not sure who the poet is.

Safety Around Electricity

Today we went to the hall to learn about staying safe around electricity. We watched a video about Danger Rangers. In the video, Mr Negative threatened to hurt them by zapping them if they didn't follow nine rules. at the end , the characters learned the rules and followed them.

Levi got dressed up in safety gear like a linesman.

The nine rules are:
1.Don't put water near electricity.
2. Don't touch transformers.
3.If there are lines down on your car after an accident, stay in the car.
4. Unplug the toaster before getting stuck toast out.
5. Don't touch a power cord if it's cut or damaged.
6. If a power line is downed by a tree, call 111.
7. Don't overload electrical sockets with plugs.
8. Don't fly a kite near power lines.
9.Don't throw rocks at the insulators on the power lines.

We also learned that 70 per cent of our bodies is made up of water.
Our thoughts about electricity are that it is helpful but can be dangerous if we don't follow the rules!

Superkids

On Friday morning the whole school got to go to the NBS Theatre to watch the dress rehearsal of the school production Superkids. We bussed down and then were treated to a great show about how to deal with bullies. The students were entranced and and I loved listening to the comments being made around me.
At the end Harry gave it a ten and two thumbs up!
